Seaway Atlas
Heavy equipment trade data
Three open datasets on moving heavy equipment out of the United States: what the U.S. exports and where it goes, the import duty each country charges on each class of machine, and the rules for importing used machinery. Every figure links to the official source it came from.
- 1
U.S. Heavy Equipment Export Monitor 2025
$14.4 billion of tracked machinery exported in 2025
Units, customs value and average unit value of 15 classes of machine, from excavators to generator sets, for every destination, with the change on the year before.
- 2
Import duty on heavy equipment, by country
Duty for 143 countries across 15 machine classes
The tariff each country applies to excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, trucks, tractors and more, next to its standard import VAT, with a worked landed-tax example.
- 3
Used-machinery import rules, by country
Used-machinery rules for 40 markets; export-control positions for 29
Age limits, inspections, licences, conformity certificates and fees for importing used machinery into 40 key markets, plus the U.S. export-control position for restricted destinations.

Trade flows and tariffs are pulled from the World Bank's WITS service, which republishes UN Comtrade and UNCTAD TRAINS. Rules come from customs authorities, government gazettes and U.S. agencies. We refresh the data when the sources publish a new year.
