Cost + Insurance + Freight (the landed value before duty)

Choose a destination and enter a CIF value to estimate duty and tax

These are indicative planning estimates based on published per-country rates, applied to the CIF value you enter. Actual duty and tax depend on HS classification, customs valuation (some countries value against their own database, not your invoice), vehicle age, engine size, origin, and trade agreements. Always confirm with a licensed customs broker before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CIF value and why does duty use it?
CIF stands for Cost, Insurance and Freight — the value of the goods plus the cost of insuring and shipping them to the destination port. Most customs authorities assess import duty on the CIF value, then charge VAT/GST on the duty-inclusive value (CIF + duty).
How accurate is this estimate?
It is an indicative planning estimate based on published per-country rates applied to the CIF value you enter. Actual duty and tax depend on HS classification, customs valuation, vehicle age, engine size, origin, and trade agreements. Some countries (e.g. Kenya, Nigeria) value against their own price database rather than your invoice. Always confirm with a licensed customs broker before booking.
Why do some countries show "varies — confirm by HS code"?
Where a country's duty depends on engine size, vehicle age, origin, or specific HS classification — or where used-vehicle imports are restricted — there is no single honest percentage to apply. In those cases we show the VAT/GST we can state and flag that duty and other levies apply on top. Each rate carries its source and the date we last verified it.
Does the estimate include excise, registration, or other taxes?
No. Many countries add excise duty, registration/first-registration tax, environmental or luxury taxes, and statutory levies (e.g. railway development levies, ECOWAS levies). These vary widely and are noted per country. The estimate covers import duty and standard VAT/GST only — request a quote for a full landed-cost breakdown.
